Today marks the birthday of Norma Jeane Mortensen Baker (June 1, 1926 - August 5, 1962) known to the world as Marilyn Monroe, the quintessential sex symbol.

Despite a troubled personal life from the beginning, she always managed to be inspiring to people. Say the name Marilyn Monroe to anyone, and it’s unlikely to be her mental health issues that will be the first or even second thing they think of.
